Carlo Scafa

Born in Rome in 1960, Carlo Scafa took over his family business, named Carlo Scafa Marmi d’Arte, from his father Carmine and his mother Vittoria in 1985. Scafa got a diploma in surveying and then studied architecture and interior design, obtaining the skill set that has been fundamental to carry on the family business. Carlo Scafa Marmi d’Arte is specialised in furnishing and interior architecture for houses, shops, and hotels, in the design of unique pieces, in nautical furnishing, in flooring with the inlay technique, and in the processing of stone blocks. Over the years it has carried out works for prestigious clients, like religious institutes and national and international public bodies, in collaboration with some of the greatest names in Italian architecture. This experienced business has worked and still works with marble, travertine, granite, onyx, stones from all over the world, and quartz.

During his thirty years of activity, Carlo Scafa has received important awards such as the 2002 Gold Wheel for artistic craftsmanship, a honorable mention, awarded by the Rotary Club of South West Rome in 2002, the Mercurio d’Oro and the recognition as Artisan Master of the City of Rome in 2014.

Very passionate about the tradition of stone processing, Scafa joined Rome’s Università dei Marmorari after being introduced by Otello Scatolini. He is one of the founding members of the Cultural Association of the Università dei Marmorari.
